Pros
Surprisingly agile and flexible in its approach, even though it is an old, large company. Teams and departments share a common goal, no silo mentality. TIAA has made some significant changes after the purchase, but those are to be expected and are pretty good overall.
Cons
Inconsistent middle management. Some just should not be leading groups. It is like that at many places, but at Nuveen it can be striking how disparate the quality of the management is.
