Pros

- friendly coworkers - friendly supervisor - work outside - guaranteed minimum wage - kind of fun talking to lots of different people and seeing different residential areas

Cons

- unlikely to make over minimum wage - more senior coworkers were assigned better areas for canvassing - basically door-to-door sales, except you offer a free sample and then send a salesperson to the house with the sample after making an appointment - sunburns and blisters - some people get pretty upset when you knock on their door to try and sell meat

Pros

- Pretty good social competency experience, very noticeable changes even after 4 months - Pretty non-competitive. It is the best location in terms of door-to-door sales performance wise, but they hire basically anyone so it doesn't take long to become a top performer.

Cons

- Terrible pay. 20$ an hour with a promise for a fake commission. Commission follows a defecit system, so if you don't meet an unreasonably high quota from the get-go then you can basically assume you will never make any additional commission, only 1 person was at the time I was working there with a team of 8, and it was essentially pennies. The largest issue is unpaid work. Shifts are 4-8 on weekdays and 10-2 on weekends, but there is 25-45 minute drives to the field prior to it and they demand you arrive far earlier than that to make sure you don't miss it. Considering Ottawa's terrible transit system and my fear of missing a shift, I left home 2 hours before the shift started despite the office being close, coming out to 4 hours of unpaid work for each 4 hours of paid work. The managers also put in great effort to scare you and stress you with bad performances, with multiple after-shift 1 on 1 meetings, but almost never actually punish you.
