Pros

Healthcare benefits. Sucking up and nepotism gets you far if you’re into that. But only if you’re a man.

Cons

No career development. They severely underpay creatives and don’t invest in their creative team. They’ll try to promote you to a senior/management level role without a raise, or even a bonus. They’ll pay someone you interviewed more than you. Upper management does not trust the creative team. Poor upper management in general. High turnover of management. Poor employee retention. Many talented creatives have left over the years because of poor management. Longest standing on the creative team currently is about 3 years for a 20-year-old company. Nutrabolt doesn’t have a true creative team, they outsource to agencies constantly because upper management sees agencies as automatically superior than their own creative team, which is a falsehood. Again, they don’t invest in their own employees. The “culture” is a smoke screen. It’s BS. No product benefits. “Fast-paced environment” translates to being stressed out constantly over multiple projects and not being able to spend adequate time on a single project; constantly rushed. Sexism. Boy’s club. If you report something sexist to HR, they won’t address it company-wide saying “this isn’t part of our core values.” They sweep it under the rug and pretend like it never happened. They bug you every month via email to leave positive reviews on Glassdoor, which is why you’ll find that a majority of the people who have worked for Nutrabolt less than a year who are still in the honeymoon phase are positive reviews, and the people who have worked there longer have seen the company for what it really is and left honest, negative reviews. The CEO will probably never know who you are personally, even if you do a presentation in front of him. Overall, this is the worst place I have ever worked in all the jobs I’ve held. Nutrabolt has a lot of money to throw at everything except their own employees, they don’t value their employees at all except c-suite. CEO has a lake house, meanwhile I’m struggling to make end’s meet and have to move out of HQ’s city because they severely underpay. There is absolutely no reason why Nutrabolt should have awards for “best place to work.” I have never experienced it and I know I’m not the only one. If I could leave zero stars for Nutrabolt, I would. I wasted five years of my career thinking they would take care of me and help me grow. They offered nothing.

Pros

Free energy drinks and merch.

Cons

This is one of the worst companies I’ve ever worked for. The “best place to work” recognition does not reflect the reality of what many employees experience. During my time in this company the culture is driven by favoritism and a lack of accountability. Leadership roles are often filled by individuals who lack the necessary qualifications, while others are consistently overlooked without clear or honest explanations. Performance and merit are not the deciding factors for advancement. There is a consistent pattern of poor management, little to no training, and zero accountability for bad leadership decisions. Instead of building a professional and supportive environment, the culture rewards fitting a certain image over actual capability. I also observed ongoing inequities in advancement opportunities. Many BIPOC and LGBTQ+ employees were given vague or inconsistent reasons for not progressing within the company, while white employees / white hiring candidates advanced more easily. Over time, these patterns became difficult to ignore. Overall, the environment felt toxic, frustrating, and discouraging. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering working here carefully evaluate whether this is the right fit no matter what role you are applying.
