Pros

-Friendly, nice coworkers and staff (except for a one who was very rude in the back office, was not good at communication, but unless you are appointed certain tasks that require you in the back you will probably be able to avoid them.) -clean, well kept environment. -have some great programs. -Communication between directors/Hr and staff is pretty good. They try to get involved and have meetings to address issues.

Cons

- If you do have any issues involving other coworkers, supervisors will hear you out but don't seem to go beyond that to address the issue. Two times I went to two separate supervisors about coworkers not pulling their weight or only doing part of their job and though they said it would be addressed, they never mentioned to me later that they talked to said coworkers and I still found the coworkers to not be doing the tasks as they were assigned. - Some micro-management from supervisors and lack of communication. A task has to be done a certain way and completed fully at a certain time, no exceptions. A few times I couldn't take a break because it HAD to be done in that time frame even if the pile of work was more than usual. Certain supervisors don't come around to check on you nor try to accommodate/get someone to help finish the task so you can take a break. -No advancement. If you want to move up to working with circulation/on desk they only hire those with a degree and always outside of the workforce. Me and several others had tried to move up to a better position, but were always turned down even if we had worked there for several years. -not a flexible schedule which is strange for part-time. You had to work the same hours and days, couldn't change it, and couldn't just switch hours/days with a coworker through the supervisor, you had to go all the way to HR or head supervisor and even then they didn't like it/ were reluctant to change. You had to go through some hoops to have it done. Really hard for those that needed another part-time job or were going to school and the class schedule changes each semester.

Pros

The co-workers there were all nice and the job position was easy going. You didn't need to clock in or out, just show up.

Cons

Sometimes understaffed. Guests that use the computer lab can sometimes ask for more than you are supposed to do.

Pros

Wonderful coworkers who are helpful and are team players. Everyone works hard and has the patrons best interests at heart. Beautiful, new library building in which to work. Close to major expressways. Library valued by community.

Cons

Very few full-time opportunities especially for professional librarians. Most part-time librarians only work 18 hours so management doesn't have to pay them sick or vacation time. Starting pay for circulation staff is lower than at libraries of the same class so turnover is very high. Managers end up spending too much time hiring and training staff over and over. Patrons are given more consideration than staff. Director known to mete out harsh punishment for simple errors. HR practices are not consistent.
