Good benefits but red tape and favoritism issues - Registered Nurse Northside Hospital Employee Review

Pros

Benefits, 403B, tuition and certification reimbursement, pension, career level programs.

Cons

Lots of red tape to get things done well. I have seen a manager allow another manager to dictate what their department staff does, and allows that manager to speak down upon, curse out staff. Only because of who they know in the c-suite. Some team members become promoted because of their relationship with people in the c-suite, not truly on merit and capability alone. I often train people who are making $10+ more than me. Other team members automatically make more than me even though I have more experience in the role I'm in and have a higher title. And when mentioned, it's brushed under the rug. We say we expect people to abide by service standards, but some managers are not held to that same standard.

Pros

I have been privileged to work for Northside Hospital for the past five years, and my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. During my tenure, I have benefited from the organization's commitment to employee growth through its annual internal promotion policy, which has allowed me to advance within my current department. One of the aspects I value most is Northside's support for work-life balance and professional development. While working here, I was able to begin my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program from the ground up and am on track to graduate in December 2026. The flexibility and encouragement provided by the organization have played a significant role in helping me pursue my educational goals while continuing to contribute as an employee. I was a full-time employee for most of my career with the organization and recently transitioned to part-time status to accommodate the increased demands of my nursing program. The support and understanding shown by management throughout this process have reinforced my appreciation for the company's employee-centered culture. I am grateful for the opportunities, professional growth, and support I have received over the past five years.

Cons

None that I can think of right now
