Pros

The people you work with out on the floor are usually cool and it's easier to connect with the people that you suffer with. There is also pretty good healthcare, but the owner will remind you every year how much money he spends so you can have good healthcare

Cons

Where do we start... If you're not a brown-nosing loyalist to the owner of the company then you're not very well liked amongst the people at the top. They've chased out so many HR directors out of the building because they wanted to make changes for the better, but recently they found one that will narc on you any opportunity they have to upper management. The foreman out on the floor used to be a huge drug addict, now he's so self-righteous and thinks everyone is below him because he got himself a measly middle management position. He's also a highly insecure person and promotes a toxic work environment; the control and power makes him feel good about himself. The owner's wife over sees the money in the company, so obviously there is zero interest in giving the employees liveable wages. The less money they pay employees, the more money her and her husband get to keep. The owner of the company kept it open and running during Covid, in which time he received a 1.3 million dollar PPP Loan from the Federal Government, none of the employees saw a dime of it. Instead, he built a house down in Florida with it. If you need to take time off for any reason, you're a major inconvenience to them. There is zero work/life balance here. If you have to call in or leave early because life happens, then you're put on the bad list, and the foreman will give you dirty looks and a silent treatment when you're back at work next. They lock the doors between the floor workers and the office workers, so if you need to talk to HR or anyone else in any office, then you need to be escorted. We recently celebrated (The First Ever Person to Retire from Northern Air). We've had more people pass away while employed here than we've had people actually retire from this company, which shows how much they truly care about employee success. As I look for jobs elsewhere, I'm starting to learn that NAS never actually teaches proper vocational skills to find a job outside of the company. If you ever work here, prepare to work a lot of OT to make ends meet and they will gaslight you into thinking you're not a good employee, instead of them facing the facts that they aren't a good company to work for.

Pros

Co-workers in your department can be fun, opportunities for over time to make up for low pay and downtime, early start and early quitting times, decent health benefits, weekly pay versus bi-weekly

Cons

Company: Very low pay compared to other manufacturing companies, extremely low annual raises if any, there can be a lot of downtime due to waiting on parts to arrive which means you're cleaning or sent home early, tons of drama and gossip on a daily basis, constant revolving door of employees, they hire a lot of people who are very unqualified and lazy, zero room for advancement, they dont take safety of the employees serious, there is no work/life balance and its like pulling teeth if you need to leave for something important or family matters, company has kicked out OSHA when there were inspection visits, just an all around very bad culture with bad employee treatment Management: They play favorites with employees, dont communicate well, there is no loyalty to employees even to those who have been loyal to the business, and there can be really bad treatment between management and employees unless you're part of the inner circle of friends President: Lacks any type of connection with employees, says the company owes success to his people but it's just a BS line to make himself look good (everyone rolls their eyes when he says that stuff), only cares about profits so he can buy a new car/SUV every 6 months or take high end vacations with his wife who is in charge of the accounting deparment, has an ego and arrogance the size of the building, doesnt take covid restrictions or rules serious because hes in love with donald trump and said its just "the flu" which put all of the employees at major risk, doesnt listen to employees unless you are part of management because he feels his way is the only way, and doesnt know that most of the employees laugh at him behind his back because hes so out of touch.
