Pros

Good pay, good peers. You can build a family of misfits friends working here. But....

Cons

Terrible management, all decisions are reversed within weeks, you never learn anything. And yet they expect you to do the job of 6 departments. Even when they actually have those 6 departments. It used to be a wonderful place to work but that changed rapidly over 6 years. Insurance went down the drain. Everyone just become another number instead of a human.

Pros

I've been at NorthState for a year now, and it's been an exciting and interesting place to work. This is a company with a long history, which is nice, and it has been a family-run, closely-held business for most of its history. That had changed a bit over the last few years, as they have revamped much of their leadership team and expanded their business lines. While the core business offerings have been maturing, they have been investing in lines of business that are growing the future. Culturally, which is what really matters, NorthState has been driving an environment of accountability and trust. There have definitely been changes in the last couple years, and these have been focused in making the teams more effective - building trust, driving ownership, and focusing on "getting the job done right." Core to that culture is the fact that NorthState is a values-driven company. Our values define who we are and how we operate. I found this from the first day I walked in the door.

Cons

Some systems and processes are outdated. These have been recognized and are being priorotized for updates. While it is charming, High Point is a small town. Thankfully, Greensboro and Winston-salem are close. The IT office is right in the center of downtown, which is not the best location. Not much else to complain about!
