      Pros

      Serving the public, books, for the most part creative & caring staff, decent compensation & benefits

      Cons

      Terrible red tape, it takes forever to get things done. You can get very lucky with management and most of the staff are truly wonderful, fun, hardworking people, but it's a roll of the dice. There are some truly inept and/or downright cruel people.

      Pros

      Required tasks are easy. Training is complete and well-presented. Vast majority of coworkers are good people.

      Cons

      Part-time employees spend at least 1 hour per 5-hour shift cleaning a ridiculous number of children's toys . . . every little bit and piece . . . each individual lego block . . . thousands of items. 20 hours MAX per week. No opportunity to work more hours to earn more money. In some branches, unruly, undisciplined children and teens are allowed to run all over the entire library and make everyone miserable.
