A shell of a company with no substance - Solutions Architect Nimbus Data Employee Review

Pros

The people in the Austin office were great to work with. Getting exposure to flash technology was really cool. Building out a lab for the team, training people on the technology, and helping to build out an office was very rewarding. Of course, that's all gone after less than 8 months, but some of it was fun while it lasted!

Cons

The most obvious problem was working for a management "team" who fires or tries to fire anyone who crosses them. The kind of people who coerce staff into writing 5 star Glassdoor reviews, and make it a condition of keeping their job. There are so many stories to tell, but Nimbus has sued or threatened to sue ex-employees if they feel they are disparaging the company. In other words, they want to silence anyone trying to expose things about the company or product which might be unfavorable. Go to LinkedIn and search for Nimbus Data for current and past employees. You'll find that there is near zero staff still working there, particularly after the Austin office of 30-40 was decimated after only eight months.

Pros

I was brought on to do performance testing as a contractor for an upcoming all flash storage array from Nimbus Data. The technology is incredibly high performance - the fastest storage array I have seen in my 20+ years in IT. The test lab is modern - 200G Ethernet, 64G Fibre Channel, load generators, etc - and very meticulous. While my role was just a 6 week consulting engagement on performance testing, I left extremely impressed with the company's potential.

Cons

Some long hours to meet deadlines, but nothing out of the ordinary. The hours are little later than usual due to having to sync with the offshore teams (India, Taiwan).

Pros

Quiet office Junk food kitchen galore! Great for people that like to work alone

Cons

I honestly don't even know where to begin. Top management is such a total mess. They are the most greedy people I have ever encountered. I have a hard time writing bad reviews because I always like to see the best in people, but I have never been treated so poorly. I was a part of the 2nd attempt at an inside sales team (the first team got fired) There were 4 of us on the team. CEO has to have total control over all aspects of the sale to the point that clients were lost. When we finally were able to gain potential clients, the CEO took the sales away and decided to "take on the sale because it was too large for us to handle." (when in fact it was not, due to the guidelines given at hire and the deal sizes we were able to manage). Needless to say the sales team was extremely discouraged. The CEO decided that the sales team was not doing well enough so he fired everyone, once again. You would think he would start to see a pattern. It's sad really. Too many incredibly talented people lost. I now have a new, normal job where I am appreciated and given a little room to run with my ideas and actually do well for myself and the company. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Or if you decide to go ahead with a job at Nimbus DO NOT believe the hype. Do your research and listen to the red flags when they pop up.
