Pros

After three months of trial, they give you extended health benefits. The company pays their employees for education in the woodworker area.

Cons

It is a physically tiring job. There are no spaces for refreshments. You are exposed to constant noise and fumes that are harmful to your health. You must use proper equipment at all times.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you feel that it isn’t a good place to stay as we really try to promote from within and provide employees opportunities for growth. I was pleased to hear your comment about using safety equipment. I know at times it can feel bothersome but it is for everyone’s protection. Glad to hear it was being used. As far as the noise, it is a wood working shop and there are machines that need to be running. There is ear protection that can help minimize the noise. We also have one of the best paint booths in our facility which ensures the fumes are contained to a certain area. We are always looking for ways to improve employee recognition so thank you for your suggestions!

Pros

Occasionally interesting projects that can employ some less common techniques for building. Large shop with comprehensive set of updated equipment. Good hours for work-life balance. Strong connection with BCIT and will handle school scheduling.

Cons

Low pay especially for the complexity of some jobs. Management seems to love bemoaning the fact that “joinery is the lowest paying industry” despite taking on multimillion dollar projects from big name American clients. Does not train very well and yet micromanages. Quick turnover for journeymen and hence lacking in guidance and stability for lower level apprentices.

Pros

Occasional interesting work outside of boxes and paneling, great Forman (Matt) but he doest have enough say I'm things that come down from upstairs. Pretty good benefits of you use them.

Cons

Lots of boxes and paneling jobs that get very repetitive, pay is low and it's hard to get large raises even over years. Lots of issues with drawing and cutting bills causing mistakes on the floor.
