Pros

Exposure to a multitude of technologies so you are able to self-teach on the job Some good and knowledgable people inside

Cons

The environment and culture at this company is incredibly toxic and extremely detrimental to the mental health of anyone who wants more than a mindless place to exchange their time for money. The ethos of the company is extremely negative with anyone who has any complaints being publicly shamed and labelled a moaner in an attempt to subvert others into not vocalising their complaints. Instead of listening to their staff they offer life coaching. Not listening to feedback directly so they can address it instead of losing the valuable views of their own staff is a clear demonstration of their lack of interest. Voices are not heard, processes are put in place and talked about and then fizzle out with no follow up or feedback. Decisions come from above/select individuals who don't understand the entire situation. This is despite being told ideas have value and are worthwhile when in reality the decision has already been made leaving to a feeling of pointlessness. There are a lot of secrets within the business which adds to the impersonal and soulless feel of working there. There are very poor lines of communication to raise any issues with only certain people having power to make changes. These people are often not on the side of the general members of staff and do not take action required to improve working conditions. HR is not really an option either as feels like an afterthought and does not feel like a staff friendly option with professionalism often thrown out of the window. Progress is smoke and mirrors that suits the business and not based on your achievements. It is often given to staff who don't deserve it which devalues others who have earned it or been overlooked. "Training" and "qualifications" are a myth mostly free or irrelevant and done mostly in own time with no support. Time logging is unethical and this is known, failure to comply results in pressure being applied. There needs to be allowances you cannot legitimately track every minute of 8 hours. When discussed it's suggested breaks should be taken from your lunch hour. A 15-30 minute allowance is sometimes given but very inconsistently and is often revoked. Overall this is a very common complaint internally but never satisfactorily addressed in favour of not impacting the bottom line/profit of the business. Middle management/director level are yes men who often don't understand the roles beneath them and have progressed on a personal level and not due to their skill in the role much to the frustration of other staff. There is an air of posh white boys club at the top of the business. The persuit of the business is purely money there is no personal touch, compassion or consideration for people, staff and customers included. Staff are purely cogs in the machine and seen as numbers. Your value is graded on your willingness to stay in line and do as you're told. Please don't insult me by suggesting I speak to anyone in the business about these issues because I made several attempts to do this while I worked here so I don't see why I would waste any more time speaking to deaf ears. I supply my view here purely in the hope it saves somebody else from wasting their time with this business as an employer, customer or partner in any sense. Also I don't think it's a coincidence that an anonymous 5 star review was added shortly after the last, accurate, 1 star review.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Any and all feedback is always taken on board as we always endeavor to improve our employee experience. We are sorry that you felt some aspects of Netmatters were not what you were looking for within the role or company which ultimately led to your departure. We would like to take this opportunity to assure you that all issues and concerns are listened to, and although sometimes these response times can take a little longer, we want to ensure these are dealt with through the proper channels and in the best way possible. Some ideas and suggestions can take a longer period of time to implement, or may not be the right path for the business at the time. We would like to apologise that in this instance you felt these were not listened to. Our team's mental health is of the utmost importance to us, and we are always striving to improve ways in which we can support employees. We understand a life coach may not be the support everybody needs or feels comfortable with, as we are all unique, but we do have many other tools available for those who reach out. Life Coaching is available for all those who wish for extra support with mental health. Our life coach is offered as we believe there are some topics people would wish to discuss privately or have someone with specific qualifications support them. Our HR department is always available for anybody who would like to reach out. Our Home-working flexibility, lunch and learns and variety of PDP meetings with seniors also aim to assist our Netmatters colleagues. Thank you once again for the feedback, it has been heard and will be actioned as appropriate to help us to continue to improve.

Pros

The people are great You work with a lot of technologies You get a lot of exposure Personal development plans They take people with no experience

Cons

Time management expectation is difficult to follow sometimes. You get burned out easily, especially because of the high turnover, when someone leaves, you have to pick up their work, a lot of time without training for higher level tickets. No structure when it comes to job description. You could be a junior employee but getting high level tickets to work on. No short-term sick pay. The parking situation is not good, Sometimes you get conflicting information from different managers.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a balanced review. We’re really pleased to hear your positive comments about our people, the variety of technologies we work with, the exposure this provides, and our commitment to personal development and giving opportunities to those without prior experience. Those are all areas we actively invest in and are proud of. We also appreciate you highlighting the challenges. Workload and time management expectations can be demanding at times, and we recognise the impact this can have on burnout. We’re continuing to focus on improving resourcing, knowledge sharing, and training to better support team members when taking on more complex work. We’d also like to clarify a couple of points raised. All of our offices do have access to free parking, and we encourage team members to speak with their manager or HR if they are unsure of the options available at their location. In addition, short-term sick pay is in place, and details of this are outlined in our company manual. We recognise that awareness of benefits and provisions is just as important as having them, and we’re continuing to focus on clearer communication to ensure everyone has the right information. Feedback like this is genuinely valued and helps us continue to improve the experience for our team.

Pros

Pay is ok & decent exposure

Cons

- management are totally clueless - Toxic work environment lead by senior management - Everything needs to be logged, expects you to log 8 hours everyday leading to burnout or unethical logging - Does not take criticism onboard and usually takes it personally - HR are not there to help you, they are there to protect their clueless and often stupid procedures & ideologies - To hit all KPIs they create basically turns you into a robot. If you don't hit the KPIs you get told off or made to feel you're not good at your job - Directors have become so greedy that they have taken away perks from employees so they can get big pay rises All in all AVOID AT ALL COSTS. P.s. ignore the response I will get from this, its not true and you will find it out eventually.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. These are all monitored and considered very carefully by the leadership team at Netmatters. It is always our aim to have the best possible working environment for all of colleagues and we are always refining our approach in order to achieve this. Your review mentions you're a current employee and I'd urge you to reach out to either HR or your line manager who will be able to assist with the issues you're facing. It is in our interest to have happy and engaged staff and if there is anything we can do to get the experience back on track we'd love the opportunity to do so.
