Pros

Neovera has a casual but professional work environment. For example, there is no dress code, bikes and some pets are welcome and keeping office seats warm is rarely required, but the standard of technical work and professional handling of customers and colleagues is high. The technical expertise of engineering staff is very high, with every engineer being a subject matter expert in their field and often in other fields. Opportunity to work in multiple teams based on interest and available resources. Flat management structure and focus on customers results in minimal administrative and corporate overhead, providing plentiful opportunity to do real work and make significant improvements. There is a wide and varying variety of technology in customer and Neovera environments, giving opportunity to learn (sometimes very quickly when one has to support it). Technological innovation is welcome. Weekly office lunch is often good, as are annual company events. Office location is convenient, parking is plentiful and closeness to the W&OD trail makes commuting by bike easy. The diverse customers are almost all good (professional, reasonable, manageable, etc.) and collaborative.

Cons

Isolation between sales and operations causes confusion and occasional difficulty supporting customers, especially concerning scope of work and responsibility. Limited operations staff and loose responsibility and ownership naturally lead to many instances of individuals being single points of failure in knowledge and operational capability. Flat management structure and focus on customers results in difficulty dealing with the rare organisation-level problems and some serious pain when attempting to add management layers. High turnover in certain groups adversely affects customer support and operational knowledge retention.

Pros

The work itself can be meaningful, and there are talented analysts who genuinely care about doing the right thing for customers. Some earlier leaders supported professional development and maintained a strong team environment. Remote work flexibility was a positive.

Cons

Frequent leadership changes and a lack of SOC-specific management experience have resulted in unstable direction, inconsistent expectations, and limited support for career growth. Senior team members who carried critical responsibilities were not recognized, and performance feedback was often vague or nonexistent. Recent layoffs — including the most experienced analysts — have left remaining staff overextended, with morale and trust in leadership at an all-time low. Communication regarding organizational changes is minimal, and employees do not feel valued or secure in their roles.
