Pros

The fully remote working arrangement is nice.

Cons

I've been an employee here for several years, and I can say without hesitation that this place has become a complete disaster, largely thanks to our bloated and incompetent People Team. Where to begin? The People Team seems to exist in its own bubble, constantly launching new "initiatives" that serve no purpose other than to justify its existence. It schedules performance reviews at the most inconvenient times possible like end-of-quarter crunch time, holiday periods, you name it. It's as if it has zero awareness of the actual business needs or employee workload. Speaking of waste, we've halted hiring (again), yet we maintain an overstaffed recruiting team. It's a misuse of company resources that could be better allocated elsewhere. Then, there's the change to assigning US-based HR reps to handle employees in Asia, Europe, and Latin America. As a result there’s a complete lack of understanding of local issues and cultural nuances. It’s resulted in lots of miscommunication and frustration. These baffling decisions have only cultivated deep mistrust between HR and the rest of the business. The endless employee surveys are a joke. We fill them out, hoping for change, but nothing ever comes of it. Any concerns are dismissed as “we're doing well against industry benchmarks." News flash: just because other companies are also terrible doesn't mean we should aspire to mediocrity. They're actively destroying morale and fostering a toxic work environment. Our CEO sits idly by, allowing HR to run amok and take over the company. Their failure to address these issues and resolve this dysfunction is a leadership disaster. If you value your time, sanity, and career growth, steer clear of this sinking ship.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. Our People Team works hard to support the business. We align our goals and initiatives to the feedback our employees provide in the annual engagement survey. We understand the pressures of the business and our performance review cycles have a two-month completion window to enable employees to flex around business requirements and the holiday season. You may be aware that I recently joined the People Team, based in London. The location of my role was a strategic decision to ensure that we continue to connect and align with our employee and management population. We are currently reviewing our global HR model so this is a good time to provide feedback. I would welcome the opportunity to talk to you, please feel free to contact me directly. - Caroline Martin, Neo4j People Team
