Pros

Pros of working here: good pay, good coworkers. Nemo is very diverse though the diversity ends at the corner offices and executive positions.

Cons

This is the most toxic and abusive environment I've experienced in my career. There were multiple red flags starting from the interview process. There was zero onboarding or training. I have never seen such disorganization and mismanagement. In the beginning, they expected me to use my personal computer and other equipment for weeks into the job. They wanted high quality work with broken, unusable equipment and became angry when I advised them on tools they would need for successful outcomes. Management often discounted success and raged or became depressed when someone missed the mark. The CEO made it known that he did not want me there and referred to me as my position title and not my name. Bullying and harassment would trickle down from the CEO. Mistreated managers would then bully their teams. My direct manager would have fits and tell me they were quitting and that I should do the same early on in my employment here. They would sabotage my efforts to do a good job in several ways and hardly provided clear and adequate feedback. These sorts of interactions were constant as this manager and others had not been trained on effective management practices nor did they know much about my position. There was an instance where a store manager tried to lock me out and then kick me out of a showroom. They refused to let me do my job simply because managers hadn't communicated and this particular person did not want me there. This was another bizarre situation that showed the normalization of erratic and quarrelsome behavior at Nemo. There was no accountability for this strange and harmful behavior despite multiple people having similar, though less dramatic, experiences. This is a company that runs off of insecurely comparing itself to competitors but is lacking in skill, innovation or insightfulness that set themselves apart from others. The office culture is riddled with blame-shifting and tantrums. The HR person is there to hire, fire and protect the company despite the abuses that happen on their watch. HR dismissed my concerns and witnessed inappropriate management behavior without intervention. Months into my employment it seemed that someone became upset about my compensation and benefits, so they tried to remove and change things around months after signing the offer letter. They made "mistakes" in pay and vacation hours several times. Instead of being prompt in their correction, they chose to argue and be smug about their mistakes. There is a cliquey culture that my direct manager was involved in. This manager could not respect confidentially in several instances. In one instance, I spoke up about someone experiencing harassment and how I was concerned about my safety, this manager immediately told their clique. This caused a lot of harm which this manager then blamed on me. Toward the end of my employment, it was also evident that others knew of my employment statuses before I did. My direct manager would work remotely for weeks on end without notice which greatly interfered with work flow and cohesion. They would oscillate between absence with sparse communication to micro-management. Seldom, was there useable guidance or feedback on projects and timelines. On many occasions they were completely checked out mentally, which got in the way of client relations and my professional reputation.
