Pros

Co-workers for the most part are friendly. Pay scale for maintenance tech. is within industry standards. Cheap health benefits. A lot of down time for techs. as the machines run nearly 24/7. Basically it is "fix it when it breaks".

Cons

I can only speak of issues from within the maintenance/technical department. For the most part I don't work with other dept's outside my own. The biggest issue I have is communication between the facilities manager and the technicians: it is terrible. I have suggested a few things that I thought would help improve the situation but no action has been taken. Scheduling is also terrible. The company refuses to hire any more help despite steadily increasing sales. We are stuck working 6 day work weeks and have been for some time now. Management gives us a song and dance on how they are doing everything they can....all the while enjoying their Monday-Friday and 9-5 work schedules. The facilities manager seems to think asking us to come in early with little notice is ok....as if I am just sitting at home waiting for the opportunity. Paychecks: We usually don't get them on time. We're paid on Thursdays....and the manager for some reason can not find the time to distribute them until late Friday. Other Maintenance Techs: OMG...where do I begin...every other tech complains about the other behind his back. Its like they are all trying to make themselves look good at the expense of the other guy. There is ZERO team work in the maintenance dept. I could go on and on in more detail but the above hits the main points....incompetent management. HR dept. isn't much better either.
