Pros

I previously worked with several startups in the Silicon Valley. After moving back to Toronto in 2017, I've been searching for local startup to contribute to. While I knew I was slightly overqualified for the role that I was in, I thoroughly enjoyed the time at Needls and learned a ton as well. Role definition - The job was well defined and rarely have I wondered if I was on the right track. The team is highly motivated to help our users, which really showed from our testimonials. The work environment is competitive (and I like it) and rewarding at the same time. I never stressed about work once I'm out of the office. Office culture - If you're looking for a fun, growth-focused, creative culture, this is it. Great team building activities, townhalls, game nights, taco lunches. The office is also dog friendly so it's a huge bonus for me. Growth - It's a very fast growing business and I can see them doing very well in the space. They do actively promote internally when the opportunity arises. However, it is a merit based environment so you have to be fully committed if you're looking to move up. I personally have a much faster growth expectation which is why I left, but for someone who's in the business for 1-3 years, this is a VERY good place to be. Management - Michael, Justin and Jeremy are fantastic managers, and great guys to hangout with. They're driven and are inspirational to the rest of the team. The team spirit is very positive on the User Success side, and we generally can pick out the negative Nancy fairly quickly. Needls is one of the best startups I've had the pleasure of working with. They're going through growing pains just like everyone else, but there are opportunities for the right individual.

Cons

Because they're growing so rapidly, a few things can certainly be improved upon. - Onboarding process for new hires can be better organized - More cross-department projects is appreciated - More organized, continuous learning projects

Pros

Very few! However, it should be said that the staff working there are wonderful! They are completely, unutterably and intolerably undervalued and undermined at all times, but manage to continue doing their jobs regardless of this senseless and egotistical pressure from the top.

Cons

Where to begin, at the heart of everything wrong is the boss and the platform, which I guess is everything apart from the aforementioned awesome people who work there. The first of these problems is someone totally inept at personnel management, choosing the path of negging staff rather than any form of positive reinforcement. There is constant shouting and swearing throughout the day, with snide comments and passive aggressive messages being sent through messenger. You are monitored by a mic’d camera at all times, giving an atmosphere more akin to a POW camp than a place of work. I mean even working for a great company, it is very important to have candid conversations with colleagues about company development without the fear of repercussions from an infantile boss, and just in case I haven’t hammered this point home, this is as far from a great company as I’ve seen. Although some good parts of the platform exist, it is bug filled and then bundled up into a bunch of exaggerations that allow users to believe it is much more advanced than it is. Happy clients are few and far between and this leaves those that work there demoralized and even at times left me feeling somewhat at an ethical crossroads. Also, I feel some of these glass door reviews are entirely fabricated and that says all you need to know about needls.
