The job rarely sticks to its job description. Be prepared to do everything and anything. It's difficult to hold boundaries or realistic expectations with consumers as your line manager will not support you. Be prepared for massive caseloads and unclear exit strategies.

Comraderie among frontline workers. Can be rewarding in terms of supporting people.

The burden of excessive admin KPIs got in the way of doing the actual work of supporting people. Partially out of control of management, but we could collectively found ways to resist funding body pressure if management at the time weren't bootlickers. I've heard new management is way more supportive and genuinely invested in the purpose of the work (supporting people)
