Engineering Trainee - Engineering Trainee Natural Resources Conservation Service Employee Review

Pros

Offers a variety of work and a wide range of training opportunities. Very easy to have good work life balance.

Cons

Most offices have only one engineer who is expected to perform a wide range of engineering tasks. Mentors are not readily available. Very hard for an engineer to advance in this agency as they cannot become District Conservationists without a certain number of soils and biology classes that are not in normal engineering curriculum. Therefore, engineers only have a few options for advancement within the agency.

Pros

- Get to make your own schedule -Essentially get to create your own workload

Cons

-Slightly below market pay for my experience and capability -At the mercy of federal govt changes, now is not a good time to be federal tbh if you don't like being micromanaged
