Nationwide Expos Response
4yNationwide Expos employs self-starters. When employees initially start working for our company they don't get leads. The senior account managers get the leads vs new people. This has always been structured as such. Once new account managers learn our system and are appropriately trained, they will then get leads. It's heavy prospecting to start. Employees that are order-takers will not be successful with our company. This is why the income for our reps is so rewarding. We would rather have 10 account managers making 100K+ then 20 account managers making 50K. Jon/(CEO) rarely makes sales. Our CEO has ownership/interest with 3 different companies and couldn't possibly spend time on sales. (Although he likes talking to vendors and tries to attend the shows). He does refer the sales to an account manager to get things tied up. (Yes, that might be a more experienced account manager than someone that is new).
Our training program needs improvement and this is something we're working on. One thing that is attractive to self starters is the fact that we throw people in the fire quickly so they can reach their full potential on commission vs putting everyone through boring training programs.
