Pros

National Life places great emphasis on a culture of servant leadership. Naturally, it is only as effective as its leaders, but there has been an increasing amount of focus and scrutiny on whether leaders are walking the company talk, including the use of 360 reviews for the past few years. I have work/life balance, and opportunity for promotion. The fitness facilities are outstanding, and the cafeteria is a nice perk and a great convenience.

Cons

Culture doesn't change over night, and there are still some leaders who create silos, or don't actually practice servant leadership, but NLG is doing it's best encourage culture change while still managing huge growth over the last 5 years.

Pros

Good pay, nice people to work with but as a consultant I feel a bit on the "outside".

Cons

Every single person that is an Executive Vice President is a man with the only woman being the CEO's Executive Assistant. Clearly you can see there is a distinct "known" here at this company.

We recognize that diversity has historically been an issue in our industry. However, if you look at our corporate board, we're actively working to diversify and will continue to make sure we consider all aspects. We will always focus on adding the most qualified talent to all of our roles across the entire organization. If you would like to connect further regarding this, I would welcome the opportunity to talk. - Michael Veilleux, Chief People Officer
