Pros

Overtime is available. Most co-workers are good people

Cons

If you work in the plant, you will be earning minimum wage. Pay will be below standard no matter the position, as this company is notoriously cheap on all fronts. For example, the building will approach 90 degrees in the summer and 50 degrees in the winter so the company can save on HVAC costs. No raises ever. They might offer you an extra 50 cents or a dollar only if you tell them you are quitting. No promotions ever, as this is a small family company run company and nearly all of the upper management positions are taken by the family. No one in upper management will be leaving any time soon because of the golden parachute that daddy, the owner, gifted to them. No 401K or retirement plan of any kind is offered. Profit-sharing is available only to higher-ups, consisting of those in the family, and maybe 5 others who are in the good graces of the family. The fact this profit-sharing even exists is kept secret from anyone who is not a part of it, but is known throughout the company. One week’s vacation is offered only after a full year of employment, and vacation time must be submitted for review a full month before you take it. Even then, the date you want is often not given to you and they can force you to take vacation months after your requested date. No sick pay. No maternity/paternity leave. No vision or life insurance. Healthcare is expensive and there is no HR rep to assist you with anything. You will work most holidays, with only New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day (will work the Friday after) and Christmas Day (will work Christmas Eve) as paid holidays. If any of these fall on the weekend, you will have to report to work the following Monday. You will be expected to work during blizzards and other dangerous weather conditions, and will be derided as a "leech" if you choose your safety over work. They continue to use presses from the 1970’s, do not use a computer system of any kind, and have not spent money on any significant upgrades since opening its doors in 1981. High turnover because of sub-par compensation, employee treatment, and benefits plan. There is a rampant culture of deception at this company; to employees, to customers, and to vendors. This company routinely engages in lying to customers and overcharging for plates, paper, freight, or services that have not been rendered and will expect you to support, and engage in, these lies. They do not pay vendors and service technicians and have gone to court or collections for many many unpaid invoices. If you leave the company, they insist that you tell no one to give off the illusion that no one is dissatisfied, as if this is some big secret. Once you do leave, it is very likely they will withhold your last check from you, hoping that you will not pursue legal action. Employees are often threatened with reduced overtime hours or termination and talked down to regularly. Management will not do anything for the benefit of employees outside of legal requirements, meaning no meal breaks for plant employees, only a 50/50 match on health care, etc. In every way, they will only provide you with the bare legal minimum, if that. If you get injured on the job, they will do everything in their power to make sure you cannot claim worker's comp benefits. If you are fired, they will not provide you with a pink slip and they will do everything in their power to make sure you cannot claim unemployment benefits. After your firing, they will lie to your co-workers, who the government may question to determine unemployment benefits, and say that you were fired for conduct violations or refusal to work in order to avoid paying out for unemployment. Overall, this is a disorganized, highly political, toxic environment that many choose as a last resort. In some ways, the environment feels a little cult-like with how upper management waxes poetic about how great the company is, while blaming employees’ attitudes for any dissatisfaction instead of examining the systemic issues. If you choose to accept employment here, do what you need to do to get by and seek employment elsewhere ASAP. If you are at any point above rock bottom, consider employment anywhere but here.

We are proud to say many of our employees have been with us for over 15 years, many even at the 20 year threshold. Many of our clients have worked with National for over 15 years, several since our inception. Our vendor base also has been stable with many with us over 10 years. With transparency, National Graphics is the midst of growth and innovation. Pros

None!!! Absolutely the worst place ever!!

Cons

You name it!!!! Minimum wage (and that's only because they have to pay you that, they wouldn't if they didn't have to.) Terrible managers that make fun of you and degrade you every day. Make you count every piece of inventory every week and actually divide out a box of staples giving an employee only one row at a time and you are questioned if you need more. Make you supply your own pens... Just crazy!!

Thank you for providing your feedback as a former employee. On behalf of National Graphics, we are disappointed that your experience does not reflect our intention of making National Graphics an employer of choice for yourself. The comments do not appear to coincide with our historical data given that we have had no turnover in the front office in over five year and that we are proud to state that all people maintained their jobs and benefits through Covid -- many have been given raises and advanced during this very tough time. We, as management, made it a priority to keep all employed with full benefits throughout Covid and continue to do so. Our commitment to our people. We value our core relationships including each and every employee, every customer and every vendor.
