Pros
Good place to get laboratory-related work experience (non-research) for new graduates. Be proactive about learning everything beyond the scope of what is expected of you and get out. Work is basic, fairly simple if you have common sense. Work flow is low-stress.
Cons
The way wages are determined here are pretty horrific. Don't be surprised if you find that you are making significantly less than newer people you are training or are further down the chain of command (with less yrs of experience also). Raises are minimal, and by that I mean less than half a buck every year, regardless of how well your performance is on your reviews. There are no bonuses so don't count on that. There's really no room for advancement. Although most of the cancerous people have been removed, a few still remain so with the low-stress work, your stress will mostly come from them. They also tend to harbor and reward people who do their jobs very minimally with the least amount of attention and care which is probably why most of the best people have left.
