Pros

Employer is always looking to improve and takes employees' ideas seriously. Management is always supporting the team and no micromanaging. Although social services may appear like a desk job and sitting hours in front of a computer, there is plenty of variety and interaction with clients. Also opportunities to lead workshops and other activities that can enhance your position or prepare you professionally if you are just passing through. Great feeling of satisfaction when helping other succeed. Great competitive salary and benefits. Best 7 years and only left to explore a career change.

Cons

Working with low income and laid off individuals can be a little stressful. Many of these clients may have barriers that add to their frustrating situation, which can appear as if they are attacking you. Don't take it personal and try to imagine yourself in their shoes. Sometimes they just want to be heard, so listen and ask questions and demonstrate you care. It's hard and sad to turn away those that do not qualify and are still in need but do your research or ask co-workers to about other resources for them.

Pros

The paid work experience at National Able Network's IT Department is a great learning experience for aspiring IT Professionals who want to get real life experience in the program, The IT team is great and is super helpful and educational.

Cons

The only downfall is that the contract is too short and since its a work experience the pay is also not great but its definitely better than not having any income.

Pros

Supportive and friendly ground-level colleagues/regional manager. Advocate for good causes; offers paid training programs for eligible participants who rely on government assistance. Opportunity to work independently and in a team dynamic. Hybrid work schedule (based on performance). Generous paid time off and paid holidays. Overall, an okay opportunity if you value somewhat fair compensation, good benefits, flexibility, and you’re looking for a job but not a career.

Cons

Overall a burn/turn type and unprofessional workplace. Department head and the executive team dismiss the boundaries, needs, and satisfaction of employees. Concerns are sometimes responded to with retaliation. Department head and the executive team lack program experience and understanding; relies on subordinates for policies, procedures, and processes. Unmanageable workloads that result in questionable, unpaid, and undocumented work hours for non-exempt/ground-level employees. Dynamic and everlasting job description that does not align with fair compensation. Very little to no reward system or recognition; as a Career Coach, your only priorities include administrative work and you will not be playing a role in helping participants find employment. No opportunity for advancement. A bad opportunity if you value personal/professional growth, workplace culture, leadership, structure, organization, diversity/inclusion and a healthy work/life balance.
