Pros
The only pros here are the employees trauma bonding together
Cons
I left a couple months ago and wanted to leave a review when I could really reflect on my time here. Like many people who apply to Narrative, this was my first job in the "grown up" world. I came into this job with college level work experience and anticipated it to be a new challenge. That being said, despite the fast paced environment, there were LOTS of shady practices and poor poor management that made it difficult to work there. Many if not all managers had no formal managerial experience and micromanaged their team, facing a lot of pressure from the CEO. So if they were faced with pressure and high demands, the pressure was then placed on the underpaid team of 20-somethings to fix the problem when it could've been solved by the CEO saying NO to brands and not over working employees to create quality work. Due to the high stress environment, it was hard to be truly creative and "free" (like how they encourage you to be), write and shoot 10 concepts in 3 days, some of which are awful suggestions that came as a request from the CEO who is out of touch in the gen-z - millenial social world. So in addition to being stressed, getting direction from poor management, and really not getting any support. There were A LOT of racism and micro-agressions too. At the time I left, about 10 EMPLOYEES quit within the span of 3 weeks, and an employee dropped a bomb to HR on Narrative's racist practices from the CEO & managers, racist concepts for content ideas and requests, and yet they still didn't truly do anything effective to make a change or acknowledge their subtle yet VERY present racism. These were racist requests and comments I personally heard myself from managers and know for a fact were said to others employees. While I know hr spoke to that person and their manager trying to "solve the problem" no change was really even made after they left (i was there still lol) and that persons manager quit a month after. There's so much more I could speak on about this company, and at the end of the day, despite being desperate for a job right out of college, would i go back and endure it anyway? F no, and ANYONE who even for a second believes the fake 5 star reviews or is being forced to write them, BFFR, absolutely everyone talked crap about how awful it was to work there, from managers to directors, to associates, and to the CEO's nepo baby. So to say there's nothing wrong with this place, you're either the problem or need to seek counseling.
