Pros

NSF's mission and values are solid. Also NSF is very lucky that it has continued to retain a handful of individual contributors and leaders that are both competent and also support and lift up their fellow colleagues.

Cons

While I think the intentions are good, the reality continues to be that top level leadership is unable to follow-up on their commitments in a way that's meaningful to 75% or more of the organization. NSF is at a point in it's history where it took on a level of change that was above and beyond it's ability to execute it well. We are all burnt out taking on multiple jobs, and just waiting for things to get better while we endure them getting worse. Being a manager at this company these days primarily consists of: being berated by direct reports that are frustrated, apologizing to angry/frustrated direct reports for things that are completely out of your control, inheriting broken systems and processes that were passed down from predecessors, no clarity or direction in your role, fighting/working around HR, and being the voice/face of directives from the top of the company and asked to communicate them as if they were your own. There is an unreasonable emotional burden placed on 'middle' managers, let alone the actual 'work' that you need to figure out how to fix in order to execute. All the stated combined with non-competitive pay will continue to push out talent over the next few months. The pro is it will create upward mobility for those that choose to stay.

Pros

Work is interesting, people are great except for senior leadership. Work can be monotonous but there is opportunity for some cross training which helps; middle management is great for the most part

Cons

Pay is below average for industry and there is a huge range in pay for people doing the exact same work; promotions are difficult to receive - we shouldn't have to interview for promotions. Employees should have the opportunity to be promoted just based off merit and experience; "hybrid" work model forced upon employees when jobs can be done remotely; lack of care for employees from senior leadership
