Pros

- Friendly staff. One gets the feeling that they really care about the teachers. Many fellow ALTs I've spoken with say that GLAD is the best employer they've worked with. - Great support. They go out of their way to help people with their problems. - Intangible, but they are a nonprofit, so it feel like their motivations are driven by more than simply pursuing the bottom line.

Cons

- The usual ALT rigamarole. Contracts are only as stable as BOEs decide they are, or if they don't get undercut (for bid contracts). That really applies to any company, though. - Sometimes they don't reply to emails quickly. As they're a relative upstart in this industry, though, it's understandable - I got the impression that they have a lot on their hands.

Pros

This company placed me in great schools where I enjoyed teaching. They care a lot about their employees' well-being, and about placing the right teachers in the right schools.

Cons

Schools' budgets are tight, and make it difficult to pay teachers well.

Pros

The staff were great. No micromanaging. I wasn't bothered by them. I guess I was just lucky. Schools were very friendly! The office staff were easy to talk to and replied quickly to all concerns. This was only of my favorite jobs in Japan!

Cons

They do provide teaching materials, but not that much.
