Benefits were beyond the standard for the local area. Pay was higher than the average for the local area. Hex chromium tests were performed regularly to test air quality while welding stainless steel to prove it wasnt harmful. Overtime was entirely optional. Quality of training was exceeding. The Japanese were the nicest people I've ever met. The welding quality and equipment was far better than other local shops.

Nippon Sharyo put its confidence into one contract, and ultimately faced conflict with increasing safety standards implemented by the FRA. The potential this company had was far beyond that of which was realized by its disgruntled employees.

New facility with state of the art equipment pursuing the ground rail market in North America. Pay is commensurate with the rural area the company resides in. For high-performance employees with a good attitude the company has ample opportunity for advancement. Company benefits are top notch with year end bonuses. Company pursues employee safety and comfort with tenacity. Overall, having worked in industrial settings for years, this is not a bad place to work. Plus, Nippon Sharyo is in it for the long haul. In 3 years the company has created over 700 jobs. Not to shabby if you ask me.

A bit of a culture clash between Japanese working with Americans and vice-versa. The Japanese practise "I live so that I can work" while Americans are largely "I work so that I can live" There seems to be a disenfranchisement of the American employees because of the Japanese work ethics. Management is noticeably building the bridge between the two cultures but the Gen Me employees want it yesterday.
