Pros

The pros of working for the NHL is the subject matter (if you love hockey) and the benefits. The NHL probably offers the best benefits of any company. Plus, the workplace is fairly casual (you can wear jeans everyday).

Cons

Upper management is old boys club and they are clueless. The NHL's Human Resources department is awful, they are all lifers who don't care about any of their employees because their jobs are always safe and they have no incentive to improve things. Finally, there are many employees who have been working there for a long time and are entitled, and bring little to the table. Yet they are never let go and seem to have permanent job security, while newer people are always the first to be laid off. Hence, things never really change or improve.

Pros

The managers were excellent, and the weekly Lunch & Learn sessions provided valuable opportunities to hear directly from leadership. It was a great environment for networking, and everyone was incredibly welcoming and inviting.

Cons

The internship compensation was limited, but the experience and learning opportunities made it worthwhile, and many would have gladly taken part even without pay.
