Pros

Some really nice people work here and there are good benefits.

Cons

I worked at NCCER for a considerable time, and unfortunately, my experience was quite disheartening for several reasons: 1. Micromanagement and Distrust: Employees are confined to cubicles and regularly monitored by management, creating a demoralizing and stressful environment. 2. Discriminatory and Unfriendly to Neurodivergent Individuals: The environment is full of distractions with no way to minimize them, making it very difficult for neurodivergent employees to focus and be productive. The company’s stringent requirements and lack of ADA compliance make it a hostile workplace for those needing accommodations. 3. Problematic Leadership: The president is solely focused on the bottom line, often contradicting himself in meetings, which has become a running joke. This lack of clear direction fosters confusion and frustration. 4. Constant Panic and Pivot: Instead of addressing serious issues in communication, support, IT infrastructure, and leadership, the company frequently changes priorities abruptly after harshly critical Executive Leadership Team (ELT) meetings, impacting productivity and product quality. 5. Disregard for Health Conditions: Despite initially accommodating my serious health condition with a hybrid work arrangement, the company quickly changed its stance, eliminating remote work options for most employees except a few favored by the president. 6. High Turnover Rate: The turnover rate is alarmingly high. The company releases products without adequate support and relies heavily on expensive contracted development firms, leading to rushed and often flawed products due to unrealistic deadlines set by leadership. NCCER was challenging due to the toxic work environment, poor leadership, and chaotic management practices. Significant improvements are needed to create a healthier and more inclusive workplace.

Pros

Excellent work/life balance. Great support from the leadership team. Willing to be flexible and make changes when needed to advance the mission.

Cons

We're new to fundraising and building the program...culture shift for the overall staff (large) will take time.

Pros

The people who actually do the work are fantastic

Cons

The upper management + ELT need a serious reality check to get with the times. They are not paying people enough or giving them the flexibility they need to be remote - so of course people are leaving and jobs aren’t being filled. Then instead of showing the people who stay respect, they kick them while they’re down. More work, no acknowledgement, and vindictive managers. On top of that, employees are actively dissuaded from using their benefits (the “flex” pto is a joke) when they already don’t get paid enough. This place allows toxic leadership to thrive and pull their direct reports down to get ahead. The CEO openly disparages entire teams and departments and shows clear favoritism to people that don’t know basic communication skills. The HR department is a joke, with the one HR person being incredibly rude and disrespectful if you’re not on her good side. The rest of the upper management are tone deaf and don’t advocate for their employees. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that the company’s culture and outlook are failing fast because the CEO and select upper management are too busy trying to make themselves look good instead of actively trying to fix the problems that they have caused.
