Pros

- Flexible work schedule, from hours to places - Team of dedicated, hard working, FUN, brilliant people across the board - A solid foundation and mission to make museums relatable, enjoyable places for everyone

Cons

- Disorganization and lack of structure that leads to lack of communication, miscommunication, and frustration - Balancing a museum mission with a for-profit reality. When too much gets focused on selling whatever you can, the product suffers and your employees feel stress and dissatisfied. - Mediocre benefits. 5 vacation days? Come on.

Pros

Being a remote company, there is tremendous closeness and camaraderie between the staff. True family feeling! The entire team holds themselves accountable, yet they all work together as a team for the overall success and growth of the company. In my short amount of time with the Museum Hack, I've never noticed anyone "throwing someone under the bus." When a mistake is made, everyone involved steps up to fix the error immediately, and growth / feedback is shared to prevent the same issues in the future. The internal communication system is fabulous. Always connected, immediate response. Never feel ignored. There is so much respect for the team. FUN and awesome experiences for our clients and staff alike! We are making a difference and an impact!

Cons

The company has grown so fast and some of the processes can be improved. This is work in progress. Since it is a remote company, you can't "peek" over a cubicle. While not necessarily a con, if working autonomously isn't your cup of tea, then a remote company may not be the right fit for you.

Pros

- Amazing culture. If I quit tomorrow, I don’t know if I’d ever find a company with as much good and fun-loving people, transparency, inclusiveness, and emphasis on personal growth. - Lots of responsibility and trust in your judgment. My supervisor is one of the nicest, most caring, patient and supportive people I’ve ever met. This doesn’t mean it’s easy, or that you can slack off — there’s still a lot of responsibility and you’re expected to hustle hard. - If you’re not a tour guide based in a certain city, you can work from home. - The company is still relatively small. You have room to make an impact. Room to grow within the company. - What we do is really cool. It’s really nice to feel like you’re part of something awesome and be proud of what your company does.

Cons

- There’s a bit of a learning curve with the way things work, takes a while getting used to. - Not super organized/structured, but it’s still a young company w/ a startup atmosphere - Most of the staff are part-time contractors, and at time of writing there are no benefits if you're not full-time, even if you end up putting in similar # of hours - This isn't necessarily a con, but I agree with an earlier reviewer who said “Employees are expected to learn on the fly, move fast and rise to the occasion without much guidance. If that's not your cup of tea, this is not the place for you.” People are generally very helpful if you do need help, but the expectation is that you’ll figure it out on your own.
