Pros

The three "pros" that I can honestly state about Murphy USA is that their benefits package is very good, they pay very well and the relocation package is above average.

Cons

I really hate to post "cons" but I have to be honest because I know I am speaking for probably hundreds of other former Murphy USA employees. It is pretty bad when even the local residents will even tell you, (including one of the local Veterinarians), that Murphy USA will promise you the world to get you to leave your job and relocate but as soon as the honeymoon period is over you will realize that this company is toxic and it stems from upper level management including (and especially) the HR Department, which is the most corrupt department that has finessed being the master of illusions, because it is all smoke in mirrors. Murphy USA will truly"chew you up and spit you out".

Pros

Fun coworkers, great customers. Regular customers who appreciate you and know it’s your job to ask for ID/upsell items. At my store, the manager will work around any day you need off so that is a big plus!

Cons

Some customers can be real PITAs and all around jerks. Sometimes it feels like we don’t get paid enough for what we do.

Pros

Good benefits. Fridays are half-days.

Cons

Terrible work culture straight out of the 90s that has never evolved. Low pay unless you're at the top. Sexism, various -phobias, pay discrimination, 'pizza days', the works. Lack of overtime is grounds for firing. Recently laid off 100 HO employees after acquiring a failing convenience store chain a dozen states away that ended up wasting a ton of money. Management that throws you under the bus. If you work really hard, you might get promoted after several years at your current level. Or you might not. Leaning hard into AI recently, which might not be a con for you, but is for everyone at MUSA currently using it.
