Pros

There's a Murphy store located in the corporate office to buy snackies, but that's about it

Cons

Leadership lacks transparency and trust, which creates a challenging work environment. There appears to be a significant disparity in compensation, with senior leadership receiving substantially higher pay, often tied to decisions that seem to prioritize their own interests over the broader organization. The culture can feel highly individualistic rather than team-oriented, with limited collaboration and support across levels. Additionally, there is a noticeable presence of workplace gossip that extends from senior leadership down through the organization, which undermines professionalism and morale. I also experienced an incident involving an inappropriate and racially insensitive comment from a member of senior leadership, which was deeply concerning and disappointing. Overall, based on my experience, I would not recommend working here.

Pros

Fun coworkers, great customers. Regular customers who appreciate you and know it’s your job to ask for ID/upsell items. At my store, the manager will work around any day you need off so that is a big plus!

Cons

Some customers can be real PITAs and all around jerks. Sometimes it feels like we don’t get paid enough for what we do.

Pros

Good benefits. Fridays are half-days.

Cons

Terrible work culture straight out of the 90s that has never evolved. Low pay unless you're at the top. Sexism, various -phobias, pay discrimination, 'pizza days', the works. Lack of overtime is grounds for firing. Recently laid off 100 HO employees after acquiring a failing convenience store chain a dozen states away that ended up wasting a ton of money. Management that throws you under the bus. If you work really hard, you might get promoted after several years at your current level. Or you might not. Leaning hard into AI recently, which might not be a con for you, but is for everyone at MUSA currently using it.
