Pros

After my MBA I had worked for 2 of the big 4 Indian IT outsourcing companies and I could see my learning stagnating. Hence, I decided to join a company with strong fundamentals like a great engineering culture, a great people culture and a road-not-taken-approach to the software services business. Quality and process are the mantra in Multunus and the people almost never cut corners. The office culture is open and there is no topic that can't be discussed. The leadership at Multunus is working on a plan to move to a model where an employee can spend 20% of the time working on personal projects. There is encouragement to actively engage with and contribute to the community through participation in technology conferences and workshops. It was a welcome change to be in a team where almost no one uses a Windows computer. Mac OS X and Linux and the platforms of choice. I preferred BYOD and could finally end my windows-by-the-day-and-mac-by-the-night existence :D

Cons

The daily commute to the office is a challenge for me. I spend more than 2 hours on the road which I am sure could be spent better if the office was a tad more conveniently located.

Pros

1. The company believes in "Continuous Improvement" where we try to make small improvements to our work every single day. This matches with my personal belief as well. 2. We do not have those scary "appraisals" instead we have only salary revisions. 3. All of us are very passionate in what we do. That is the reason, I have personally learnt a lot from others though there is still a looong way to go. 4. The team and the management encourages and helps us to blog and also speak in conferences. 5. We are being noticed and appreciated even for a small contribution that we make to our project or to the company 6. We have anytime snack bar which is always full. Anytime you can have snacks and best part no restrictions at all :-) And the best part is that we have some healthy snacks too. 7. We have loads of fun activities during celebrations of anniversaries, success parties, birthdays, team dinners, team outings and during our weekly brownbags. One of my favourite is Hush Hush Thank you :-) where you secretly thank any member at Multunus. 8. What I can't wait for are the fireside chats - where successful people have an interactive session with us face to face. It is awesome when they talk about their experiences :-)

Cons

While we are being noticed for our smallest of contribution, we are also under continuous pressure of not making any mistake as that will also be noticed quickly.

Pros

- Always on the toes. Thinking of improvements in every nook and corner. - No evident bureaucracy. The Friend-Coach-Mentor model is a good one. Being coached and mentored adds a lot of value and is motivating. - Every single person is great to work with and fun. These are the kind of people you'll also want to hangout with after work. - Believes in giving back to the community and actually invests time and money in open source contributions. - Most things are kept transparent. - The founder is a very nice person himself.

Cons

No company is perfect. Neither Google or Apple for that matter. It is what it is by the values and motivations of the founders and the employees as well. - Work/Life balance is a definite toss. Unless you are exceptional at how you manage your time and don't separating work from home, you will likely find it very hard working for a long time. - Taking a break and moving out of the office for a quick tea or snack is unheard of. Pairing makes is very hard to do that. - For a fresher, getting agile right may take a while.
