Pros
- Great discount - Great place to start a career - Some wonderful coworkers - Some wonderful customers - Bring your pet to work (restrictions may apply) - Pet dogs, cats, maybe even a bird, hedgehog and a ferret or two
Cons
- There's a depth of knowledge and a know-how of talking about that knowledge to customers, that has been lost over the years. When I was first trained about dog and cat health at Mud Bay, my training reached deep into aspects of physiology and herbology that the company just doesn't have the time or space to support in the same way anymore. - There's an emphasis on efficiency with time, trying to do more with less to maximize output. I understand and respect this, as the company is growing at a fast rate even through 2021. That being said, that focus on efficiency doesn't always leave breathing room for things to happen organically like they used to. There's not always space or energy to process, learn or have important conversations, unless they're penciled in or you shoe-horn them in, usually at the detriment to your own time or someone else's. - MB likes to make a lot of programs from scratch, to tailor them to their company specifically. This especially rings true for their leadership development program and their DEI committee. If DEI/Leadership are important to you in a company, just know that since MB has/is growing these things from scratch, they can vary from supervisor to supervisor in implementation and training/programs take longer to develop. For me the development in DEI was moving too slow, for others their slow and careful consideration may be the right fit.
