Depending on the department, work life balance can be really bad. Certain department/teams stay understaffed because of poor management. Even if you try to stay ahead, you can't because everyone waits until the last minute to anything so there's always an emergency. There are no raises other than a 1-3% cost of living raise, but those don't keep up with inflation at all.
