Pros

MAC implemented a very casual environment for their employees to thrive in. Students and families are wonderful.

Cons

It was an unusual experience for me to be at this school. I was placed in a classroom with women who gossiped about their lives and others at the school. They would negatively comment me on my physical appearance. It was a very toxic environment, and the teacher was too passive to speak up to her assistants. I was bullied by a senior staff who once even screamed at me in front of students and classroom staff. The teacher sat there quietly and allowed it to happen. When class began, the assistants in this classroom would begin their personal breakfast routine instead of helping the students- same would go for lunch. When there was staff potlucks, they would rush to get as much food as they could get. The ladies were truly a lazy bunch, and I was glad to have left as soon as I could.

Pros

I laugh every day, whether it's with students or staff. Classroom team has a close bond, but may take time to break into the social group. People are very friendly, and school culture is very positive. Lots of breaks during the year. Offers full medical/dental for you, but not family.

Cons

Quality of the lead teacher (in terms of supervision of your work, leadership ability, affect) varies wildly from room to room. It's essentially luck of the draw where you get placed. Pay is difficult to survive on unless you have a second job. You will be injured by a student eventually, it is just a matter of how severe it is. Not a meaningful amount of training, you learn by doing. It will feel extremely disorganized for the first few months until you get a handle of the schedules and the individual needs of the students.
