Pros

Coworkers are what makes it bearable, as well as stable industries.

Cons

Nepotism is rampant, people are promoted and moved into roles that they are clearly not qualified for. With the removal of Straight Over Time for lower paid salaried people, our lower salaries are cut into. They expect the same level of over work with no additional compensation or reward. The executive team is useless, prioritizing the “stock price” over everything else, which makes sense since they all get stock for part of their pay. No clear directives on how our work impacts anything, besides that the stock price is going up. Constantly saying that the employees career is up to them to decide, but when you ask for help, guidance, or development opportunity, you get ignored or told that “we’re still figuring it out”, with nothing ever coming to fruition. Could not care less about the employees they already have, and rewarding and building talent from within. They just hire externals, widening the equity gap, then wonder why people leave. When you ask questions, you get ignored, blackballed, and put on a list in those upper managers heads that you’re not a team player, when all you’re trying to do is figure out why things are the way they are.

Pros

You are surrounded by excellent colleagues across all departments, with the exception of Government Property.

Cons

The Government Property team suffers from severe leadership deficiencies and a toxic work culture. The Senior Manager has a well-documented history of high turnover, carrying a reputation from her previous role where team members actively sought transfers. Under this leadership, promotions are actively discouraged through targeted hostility and fabricated performance issues. Because the management team lacks foundational people skills and prior leadership experience, employee retention is critically low. While other departments within the organization offer great opportunities for growth, transferring into or staying within Government Property is highly discouraged.
