Pros

Lots of friendly people & sometimes very interesting work. Employer is usually there when you need them for any help. The Company has a good reputation because they are in Space & Aeronautics.

Cons

Too much politics about every decision. People at the "coal face" never consulted about anything. Jobs will be placed in your lap with no prior consultation & ridiculous deadlines that you will have no hope of meeting. Don't stay too long or your skills will not be very saleable to new employers. Bank on 5 years maximum then secretly apply for another job. You can easily get into a rut & never be promoted. Don't ever criticize or complain about anything or you will become the problem. Stay as quiet as a mouse always speaking in hushed tones even if a problem is so big that the company could lose out badly. Never make out that extra unpaid hours are causing you stress - always smile no matter how bad you feel. Never go to HR if you have a problem - don't trust them.

Pros

You are surrounded by excellent colleagues across all departments, with the exception of Government Property.

Cons

The Government Property team suffers from severe leadership deficiencies and a toxic work culture. The Senior Manager has a well-documented history of high turnover, carrying a reputation from her previous role where team members actively sought transfers. Under this leadership, promotions are actively discouraged through targeted hostility and fabricated performance issues. Because the management team lacks foundational people skills and prior leadership experience, employee retention is critically low. While other departments within the organization offer great opportunities for growth, transferring into or staying within Government Property is highly discouraged.
