Pros

You can work here for 40 years and retire. profit share that works out to be around 2.5% of base salary, health insurance is decent. Most managers in white collar roles are very reasonable and care about you. Can take time off whenever needed. Tuition reimbursement up to $5,000 a year but 2 year minimum commitment thereafter. Certain vehicles, and cell phone discounts for full-time employees. 100% reimbursement for job related training, and a small bonus if you're going after a job related certification upon completion. Career training is important to them. Work life balance is excellent if you can stay just below management positions. Sure you get a small raise but the work easily doubles.

Cons

HR has too much power over career advancement. Unless you are a top performer, you won't get anything over 2% increase ever. They claim to not have money to spend but blow thousands on catering every month. Forced week of vacation use for Christmas shutdown. All sick time, vacation, PTO etc. is all one bank (only 13 days) until you've been there 5 years. HR preaches that they can pay less because there is no local competition to force higher wages.

Pros

You are surrounded by excellent colleagues across all departments, with the exception of Government Property.

Cons

The Government Property team suffers from severe leadership deficiencies and a toxic work culture. The Senior Manager has a well-documented history of high turnover, carrying a reputation from her previous role where team members actively sought transfers. Under this leadership, promotions are actively discouraged through targeted hostility and fabricated performance issues. Because the management team lacks foundational people skills and prior leadership experience, employee retention is critically low. While other departments within the organization offer great opportunities for growth, transferring into or staying within Government Property is highly discouraged.
