Cons
It's astounding how quickly the new leadership has destroyed any remnants of the culture that used to make UNGERBOECK such a special place. Once an annual 'Top Workplace' recipient, now this company couldn't get a positive net promoter score (NPS) if it's life depended on it. The new C-levels that were brought in made a cardinal-sin mistake in that they immediately thought they were smarter than everyone else and decided to operate their decision-making by doing the opposite of what was in place before. The result is the systematic removal of all former leadership, stability and vestiges of the old culture. At times choices seem intentionally vindictive and hurtful. Historic branding & logo? We need to eliminate all elements of the old Ungerboeck and replace it with a half-baked name & logo with no industry equity. Wellness program & coordinator? Gone. In-office celebrations? Tough to have when you no longer have an office to visit. Time-off policy? "We're going to change it from accrual to 'unlimited' with 2 weeks notice but not reimburse you for what you can't burn in that time span. And then we're going to hold it against you for taking time in the span itself so you wouldn't lose it." This highly selfish, self-involved management team is more concerned with showering themselves with lavish gifts & parties in Miami along with First Class tickets to visit customers around the globe than they are in building (maintaining?) any semblance of a culture. Nevermind the rest of the company is trying to simply keep the lights on with less than 1/2 the staff from a year ago. It's amazing the software hasn't collapsed in on itself. The sheer inequality and "do what I say or else" top-down management style creates a highly toxic workplace. When the CEO himself tells an employee who asked pointed questions "I would've fired you months ago if it would've made you a martyr", you're clearly someone that doesn't have the capacity to be a leader. People follow actions...not words. The management in place clearly have an inferiority complex and prefers to tear people down rather than build them up. The sad fact of the matter is that so many good people have been let go and those that remain are struggling to hold it all together. Literally DECADES of experience, knowledge, and relationships have been let go or forced out without even a care in the world. I feel sorry for the customers that now have to deal with this clown-show. If I were them i'd be looking for an alternative to provide some future stability. This company won't be able to stand much longer. And unfortunately, this management team (and private equity overlords) couldn't care less. If/when they get enough of a buy-out to justify their exit, they'll toss aside the heaping pile of a once-great company and move on their their next tear-down project.
