Pros
This is my third month at Mirasee, and I am still waxing euphoric. I tell everyone that millennial bosses rock, but what I mean by that is that Danny Iny and Bhoomi Pathak have put into practice at Mirasee the best ideas about what a forward-thinking workplace should look like. For example, every week each person acknowledges a co-worker who has embodied the values of the company that week. Everyone does this earnestly. There’s no eye-rolling, no lip service. Mirasee is filled to the brim with smart, caring, talented professionals who respect the organization and each other. I have never been happier nor more fulfilled in a work situation. Another point, most of the people at Mirasee are also entrepreneurs. At age 58 this is my first job-job. For years, I’ve wanted to make this kind of leap because I longed to be part of a team, and I wanted more predictable income, but I feared I would be unemployable. How could I convince someone that I could be a team player when, for 30 years, I’ve been self-employed? Turns out, there are lots of folks like me at Mirasee — of all ages. At a recent retreat, person after person said the same thing as I did — we could hardly believe that a place like Mirasee existed. We were so grateful. I am grateful that I landed here. As I said recently to Danny, “You have created a truly special place, not just to work, but to do good work in the world.”
Cons
Because we are an international group (Canada, UK, USA, Sweden, Finland, Israel, Mexico, Ecuador, and counting), sometimes there are meetings that are a little early for me on the US Pacific coast. That is small price to pay, because otherwise I can work whatever hours I want.
