Pros
-good benefits if full-time -reasonable hours -good pay for the area -very dedicated staff -chance to work with and promote regional culture and history
Cons
-recent temporary closure came out of nowhere -main source of funding was a state agency -the center was a political football for 30+ years -if hired as part-time, nearly impossible to become full-time -very hard to work with other departments -management is often not trained in area they are managing -board has no museum experience Mistakes made early on in the switch from a state-operated facility to ta non-profit made it almost inevitable that it would close
