Pros

nice area, lots of shops/food, etc. friendly younger staff sometimes friendly upper staff, depends on who you talk to

Cons

Where do I begin? I saw these reviews, which were shown to me by another employee at Mindshare, and thought, there is no way these things are true! My first few months of working, I didn't believe it. However, as time went on Mindshare, mainly Heather Fitzsimmons, gave light to her true colors. Now remember, there is NO HR at Mindshare. So everything, I mean EVERYTHING, is dealt with through Heather. Heather shows up several hours late and leaves several hours early everyday. I would say 90% of that time is spent shutting office doors, and talking badly about coworkers and clients with her other managers. I mean seriously, how stupid do you think everyone is? You all sit in the office with the door shut, disperse, and then 5 minutes later someone says "hey _____, can I talk to you for a second?" Heather had her other managers fire people- she avoided it so she wouldn't be one to blame, especially for these Glassdoor reviews. Which, by the way, she HATES. Anyways, she would fire people in the middle of the day, and then the moment they got fired, she would talk terribly about them. Calling them stupid, or even curse words. She's seriously so immature, that she will fire someone via email, because she's such a coward she can't do it herself. It got so bad that 2 employees quit almost immediately. Both were miserable and one quit specifically because of Heather. Everyone there, with the exception of Heather, has been there for less than a year. There is a very high turnover rate, and almost everyone leaves with a bad taste in their mouth. Lastly, Heather will make incredibly irrational and cruel decisions based on personal biased. She will twist your words and make them sound like you did something wrong. She will spy on you. She will search everything you have ever been in on the internet and hold it against you. If it was serious, I would understand. But it never is. She turns them into a personal thing because either she doesn't like you or her feelings were hurt. When she doesn't like you, you don't stand a chance. She will roll her eyes when you say "good morning" to her. She'll go out of her way to find ANYTHING, I mean ANYTHING to either fire you/get you to quit. She even got upset at a girl for having an oatmeal bowl on her desk 20 minutes after she ate it. Are you serious? Honestly, I would classify Heather's behavior as workplace bullying. I originally wasn't going to write a review, but I wished I had seen these reviews before accepting the job. The interview show they put on is just that- a show. Give it about a month, and unless you made coworker friends, you will be miserable. They get willing and eager college grads, who are just excited to be there, and seriously beat them down. For weeks I would call my family and cry about work and how much I hated it. The pay is decent, but I learned very quickly that a) it's not worth it and b) almost every other firm pays about the same. Don't be fooled.

Pros

I started at Mindshare over two years ago and I have learned more about technology and PR while in this role more than anywhere else. Leadership has decades of experience in the industry and love to pass down their knowledge. They will go above and beyond to provide you with any resources you desire and the training you need, whether it be internally or externally. Public relations is about building relationships and this is an amazing agency to learn and improve those skills. Leadership has incredible connections with reporters and influencers in the industry and will gladly make those introductions for you. From my experience with the company, I felt I have been able to develop a skill set and an understanding of all the aspects and inner workings of the public relations industry. In addition to building skills to excel in my career, I have also experienced great culture. I always feel comfortable talking to my team members about what I want to improve and receiving advice and tools to do so. I never feel micromanaged it is apparent that my superiors care and want only the best outcomes for their employees and clients. I have always felt the utmost support from my superiors and Mindshare and the know they truly want me to succeed, as they do with anyone at the company. Working for Mindshare has been extremely motivating and the hands-on experience employees receive at the company will set anyone up for a successful future.
