Pros

A chance to break in and learn the ropes of content writing. Some of the editors are cool. Learned the basics of their dashboards. They let you use ghostwritten content as part of your portfolio

Cons

Redundancy problems. I had to chase after 100s of dollars for over a month. When I complained, the editors suddenly found problems with my writing that they hadn’t seen before. Before then I was perfect scores 10/10 from these same editors. After I complained about their backlog, they gave me 4/10. Then they published articles they complained about and put someone else’s name on it. It’s ghost writing. I knew I wasn’t getting a byline but they didn’t tell me that they would give credit to other writers for my work.

Pros

You get some experience writing various works for online publication.

Cons

The biggest con is that the communication style of the leads, whether you're on the content editing side or the writing side, is not great. There is no room to ask questions. There is no room to develop. There is no room to make mistakes and there is poor training for all aspects of this job, so whenever you do make a mistake, it's made out to be entirely your fault. The remote monitoring system is terrible, as it screenshots your screen every 2-3 minutes to ensure that you are constantly working for your entire shift. You feel under surveillance from start to finish. Another con is that the articles you put your sweat and research and tears into don't actually matter. I cannot find a single thing that I wrote published online or otherwise, making my portfolio featuring these articles worthless because most jobs want proven, published work for a portfolio. This job tries to fill you with "confidence" just to knock you down and remind you you don't actually matter.
