Is this your company?

Yeah, OK Was not 2016, only choice in the drop-down. More like 2003. - Contact Center Agent Microdyne Outsourcing Employee Review

Pros

(Augusta Maine) I got to put some bread on the table (not much).

Cons

Where to start? Started out as Envisionet, with a promise of tech contracts, which I was a part of .. for a month or so. Then, we got locked out of the building with sign on the door stating "Go read your email". Eventually, got on with MSN support, then Dell. The pain ended in March 2003 when Microdyne moved to Orono to a "Purpose built Call-Center". That of course didn't stop them months later from attempting to set up another contact center in a "purpose built office building" in Portland, Maine. Also, another in a "purpose built warehouse" in Jacksonville, Florida. The latter went bust when the building owner was offered a deal for the entire building (the call center was only using a portion of the building and the lease was up for renewal). The owner first offered the same deal to Microdyne, who decided to just lay off the 500 plus employees and crawl back to headquarters. (All of this was acquired after my layoff, college, and re-employment in the IT field). Congratulations, Envisionet/Microdyne, you are examples of where not to work!

Pros

Pay- Wasn't the greatest, but for what the work was it was fair. Schedule- Schedule doesn't change or fluctuate, and the 2nd shift was a very nice time slot. Workload- You had to do a set number of pieces per shift, but it was easily obtainable. However there was no incentive to do more than necessary; they didn't eve give you recognition when you did much more than necessary.

Cons

Schedule- They were very strict about times, and would not let you take off work for doctors appointments or emergencies unless you had personal time or vacation. There was also favoritism; people who were liked did not get reprimanded for not doing the daily requirement or for punches. Communication- Announcements were not delivered in a timely manner. I didn't know I was even hired until the week previous to my start date, although I interviewed 2 months ahead of time.
