Pros

The hiring process/orientation is great. HR is generally available but takes longer since its a smaller hospital. Use EPIC, great system. Staff is great. Charge nurses are busy but very helpful. ICU is really a good place to work. ER not as much.

Cons

Imbalance between Management vs staff. Micromanaging. Once I did cpr and saved a life. Got an email about a tiny detail about charting before i even got home. Need more positive feedback for staff that literally dont stop to eat or drink or pee throughout the shift. Yet there is lack of understanding from management. Too many new staff members in ER/ICU. ER is a disaster, but I think something is in the works to get it fixed because there are a lot of great nurses there. Also, IMC is a mess but they are working on it.

Pros

Coming from a smaller size hospital but big company like Methodist and known high paying hospital in DFW, I needed more shifts. Since MDMC is bigger than my other PRN, I have higher chance of getting shifts because there are more monitoring stations, more staff taking PTOs, higher chance of staff calling out sick and therefore opening the shift, etc.

Cons

More workload and higher census! Almost 50 patients on heart monitor per station.

We're glad to hear that the flexibility and availability of shifts have been a benefit for you. As one of the region's largest health systems, Methodist offers opportunities that can help PRN team members find the schedule that works best for them. We also recognize that higher patient volumes and workload expectations can come with working in a busy, high-acuity environment. Supporting our team members remains a priority, and we continually evaluate our compensation programs and workplace resources to remain competitive and help our employees succeed. Thank you for the important role you play in caring for our patients and for being a valued member of the Methodist family.
