Pros

The Prenatal Benefits are good.

Cons

1. Misinformed management who will throw there staff under the bus by claimining something which is factually false 2. The company tries to save face by soliciting their employees to write good reviews on glassdoor (talk about conflict of interest!) for them 3. They frequently use fear and threats to get the work done 4. The management team is an all white (with a sprinkle of black) boys/girls club who stick together and lie on each others behalf 5. They encourage you to question them but use every tactic in the book to squash what you say -- they would frequently ask me to tell them what was wrong but go around telling the key people this was wrong -- even if it meant that the hospital was paying more than they needed to just to show that I did not know what i was talking about. 6. Management is excellent at asking their hard working good employees to do more but not providing them resources to suit their policital agenda. E.g. I was asked to do more and more and my boss would often tell me -- "i know you can do it" but i had no resources/help to execute the task and the reason it fell on my plate is because it was my boss's end of year goal and another employee under whose purview this was -- failed to get the work done. 7. The management frequently preteds to not understand what you saying when they know another employee is harrassing you so they will not have to deal with it. 8. They target you frequently if they know you are more qualified than they are and they feel threatened even if you have no such intention but unfortunately your job makes you shine. 9. They do no recognize good employees but frequently demoralize them till they either continue at MHS as demoralized employees with low morale or leave and move on 10. and did i say the retirment plan is no longer a perk?? They make you pay for it! 11. They use asian people as icons for their front to cover the all white leadership --- the picture at the entrance of Methodist Richardson feels like it is from the 18th century because of the lack of diversity 12. Being diverse is a crime that they will punish you for! 13. ELP for colored people is a waste of time -- its not meant for growth but rather as a ruse to keep you there because they know you are a good worker 14. ELP for white people is for justification promotions where the candidate is not qualified 15. Work long hours without compensation

Pros

Coming from a smaller size hospital but big company like Methodist and known high paying hospital in DFW, I needed more shifts. Since MDMC is bigger than my other PRN, I have higher chance of getting shifts because there are more monitoring stations, more staff taking PTOs, higher chance of staff calling out sick and therefore opening the shift, etc.

Cons

More workload and higher census! Almost 50 patients on heart monitor per station.

We're glad to hear that the flexibility and availability of shifts have been a benefit for you. As one of the region's largest health systems, Methodist offers opportunities that can help PRN team members find the schedule that works best for them. We also recognize that higher patient volumes and workload expectations can come with working in a busy, high-acuity environment. Supporting our team members remains a priority, and we continually evaluate our compensation programs and workplace resources to remain competitive and help our employees succeed. Thank you for the important role you play in caring for our patients and for being a valued member of the Methodist family.
