Pros
Having initially completed the intense 2 month course I have found live trading at Met challenging but at the same time increasingly rewarding. An advantage of completing the course is gaining a broad understanding of the financial industry which is tailored to meet the current economic climate; in addition to thoroughly learning the firm’s futures trading strategy. The best part of working within the domain of this unique strategy is that you are free to share ideas and gain a greater understanding from those around you who are more experienced. Whilst at the same time, the role allows you to be competitive and work towards measurable career targets. Be under no false pretence; the role is demanding and requires a large amount of patience and dedication, but the opportunities at Met over time will be greater than the vast majority of other institutions.
Cons
Initially progress can be deemed slow but this is what everyone goes through and is expected in the first few months. It is important to be as involved as possible and not become disheartened at losses, as you will learn the most during this period.
