Pros

MESSA offers excellent pay and benefits, and very flexible schedules. Overall, I enjoy working here, as long as I keep my head down and avoid the office politics.

Cons

MESSA has a real diversity issue. The last three or four people fired have been black, and it seems like everyone there is from rural areas and they are all related to each other. Just about everyone in upper management is white, even though MESSA's members are more diverse.

Pros

Great union compensation & benefits

Cons

Extreme racism for any employee who isn't straight or white. The worst part is MESSA is stuck in a bubble. They only promote from within- and hire only their family members so you have various pots of family members all working there. It feels very much like incest and it's definitely cliques. If Michigan's school teachers only knew how much MESSA employees are paid while teachers struggle, it's shameful.
