Pros
Good benefits, was generally good through COVID, and the coworker culture is very strong.
Cons
Oh, where to begin? I have outlasted no less than 4 GM's--I stopped keeping count, honestly. There is a high amount of turnover, period. Frontline hourly employees are the only reason the hotel is still standing. I am so jaded and cynical about anything actually changing for the better here, it's genuinely depressing.
The management culture is TOXIC. I have worked here since 2018, and only ever had one promotion. GM's rarely last more than 2 years. Yet they refuse to promote from within! Corporate seems to keep sending people from the Huntington Beach location, only to see them flame out and disappear within months. I joke that this place is held together by scotch tape and hopes and dreams. The recent remodel? Aesthetic only, no improvement to the actual problems people face, like plumbing, electric, AC, etc. What is worst is that all of this chaos and poor management seems to come from the very top. Execs get wasted on company time at major events, boozing it up with other execs from other companies. This place feels more like a novelty project of a bored billionaire, just so he has some place to host his fascist-- I mean, religious conventions once a year.
What is worse? I honestly see no future here. I have applied to promotions, advancements, even department changes, only to be denied, stuck at the front with no hope of escape. I have been on the job hunt for 2 years, and the only reason I still work here is because the job market is so bad, I haven't been able to find work elsewhere.
Understaffed, underpaid, and under-supported. This place is a yawning black hole, a vortex of desperation, bad pay, and bad management. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.
